Where is a good place to buy solar panels?
From pa_jordan7@yahoo.com
Hey Paula, thanks for the question. The 2 places I can recomend are http://www.solarelectric.com and http://www.sunelectronics.com. Both are competivly priced, have great inventory, and have extremly knowledgeable staff that will take the time to deal with you the homeowner.
How long could we expect a residential solar energy system to last?
Hi Dan,
I’m trying to get a sense of how expensive it is to install a solar power system at our house. My understanding is that solar is still somewhat expensive until you factor in government incentives. We live near Sacramento in California. I understand there are federal and state incentives out there that help reduce the cost of the project. What exactly are those federal and state incentives as of January 2010? And do we know how long they are going to last?
Hey Kim, Thanks for the question. 25 to 30yrs is the norm. How ever longer is possible, depends on the manufactor
Hey John, Thanks for the question. The retail cost for a solar “kit” is around $4.00 per watt. In the Sacramento area PG&E is currently offering a $1.10 per watt incentive. On top of that the feds are offering a 30% tax credit. After all credits and incentives, your net cost is about $2.00 per watt. At that price most folk can see a return of investment in as little as 4 years. and free electricty there after ( 20 to 25 yrs).
